An end-to-end research management platform, inspired by academic studies and my early work in a research lab, for randomized controlled studies with conditional groups: researchers define each condition, assign participants to its groups, and coordinate the team.
Concept and work
The project also gave me the chance to read the big design systems end to end (Material Design, Apple HIG, Salesforce Lightning, IBM Carbon) and learn which element solves which functional problem.
We built on Material Design 3, with our own component library on top.
Features
- study setup
- research conditions
- participants and groups
- tasks
- calendar
- roles and permissions

- onboarding
Its conditions: who takes part, what they see, in what order, and when.
Bringing their data in and sorting them into groups: random, semi-random or manual.
Research work assigned and discussed.
A guided tour through setting up a study.
Permissions set page by page.
Reflection
This was one of my first experiences designing an enterprise product. As a UX student, I had perceived UI and UX as websites and visual design. This project was where I first had to work out functionality: how much of a workflow fits on one screen, which items belong together, and where a user should enter and leave.
That's when design patterns and standard rules started to make sense to me.
Back then I wired every screen to its next state by hand, which feels distant now, but it's where I learned to turn raw requirements into designed screens.
